Nouns 4.1.1 Use common and proper nouns appropriately in sentences, capitalizing proper nouns and develop familiarity with a list of collective nouns Master a list of proper nouns which go with the article 'the' e.g. names of seas, deserts,rivers, canals Identify abstract nouns expressing feelings, emotions and attitudes. Use them correctly in sentences
4.1.2 Apply rules of changing singular to plural for regular and irregular nouns (man, woman, foot,bench) with teacher support, and frame sentences correctly using them with little or no errors in subject verb agreement Master a list of uncountable nouns and use it correctly in sentences, without articles. E.g. There is sand in my shoes. Know a list of nouns that always come in pairs and therefore take a plural verb (glasses, trousers, binoculars, etc. Change adjectives, adverbs and verbs to the noun form by adding suffixes. E.g. -hood, -ship, -tion etc
Pronouns 4.2.1 Replace subjects with subject pronouns and objects with object pronouns and construct sentences correctly e.g. Rita is my sister --> She is my sister. Use reflexive and possessive pronouns correctly in sentences. E.g. myself/herself/himself/itself/ourselves/yourselves/themselves & mine/hers/his/theirs/ours Use demonstrative pronouns/determiners correctly in sentences e.g. This/That/These/Those/Each/Every
Verbs 4.3.1 Use the Simple Present Tense to describe habitual actions and facts (positive and negative) Use the Past Continuous Tense to describe an action which was interrupted in the past. E.g. I was watching TV when you called. (positive and negative) Use the Future continuous Tense to describe an action that will be happening in the future. E.g. Tomorrow at this time I will be watching TV.
4.3.2 Use the Simple Past Tense to describe an action in the past (positive and negative) Use the Future Tense to describe an action that will occur in the future Use the Present Perfect Tense to describe an event that occurred at an unspecified time (or) an event that has consequences in the present. E.g. I have watched that film
4.3.4 Use the Present Continuous Tense to describe an event that is happening Master subject verb agreement with special subjects in simple sentences in the present tense. E.g. Everybody, nobody, each, every, a group of… Use the Past Perfect Tense to describe an event that occurred at an earlier point in time in the past. E..g. When I reached school, the bell had already rung.
4.3.5 Use is/are, has/have correctly in sentences and questions, Use was/were correctly in sentences and questions Use do/does/did correctly in sentences and questions Use modal auxiliaries appropriately depending on the situation. E.g. May - permission, Must - compulsion etc

Adjectives and Adverbs 4.5.1 Use simple adjectival phrases to make sentences more interesting & vivid. E.g. I brought ten bright red roses. / The cat, with the injured paw, was taken to the vet. Use adjectives to describe texture, personal qualities, moods and feelings, Use adjectival clauses to make sentences more interesting/vivid. E.g. The girl, who is tall, is my sister. Use adverbs to describe actions more effectively. Use adverbial clauses to make sentences more interesting/vivid.The town, where I lived ten years ago, was ravaged in the flood.

Articles 4.6.1 Use a/an appropriately for countable nouns, differentiate between usage of a/an and the Master usage of a/an/the and use it appropriately while speaking in complete sentences Use articles where necessary when speaking (in conversation/ while making presentations ) without any reminders from the teacher
4.6.2 Master a list of common uncountable nouns which do not take an article. E.g. music, tea, rice, news Master a list of nouns which take 'the' because there is only one.
