Shiksha Pandey

From Language Barriers to Confident Leadership

In her school classrooms, Shiksha Pandey was a curious student whose thoughts often raced ahead of her words. Language stood between her ideas and her ability to express them. Even simple sentences felt difficult, and this hesitation often made her quieter than she wished to be.

Yet behind that silence was a student eager to learn and participate.

Her journey began to shift when she became part of the learning spaces created by the Pehlay Akshar Foundation (PAF) The classroom felt different from what she had experienced before—open, encouraging, and filled with activities that made learning interactive rather than intimidating. Tools like the Word Wall, storytelling exercises, and collaborative activities slowly helped her connect words with confidence.

Fluency did not arrive overnight. But the supportive environment encouraged her to keep trying, make mistakes, and gradually build the courage to speak.

Over time, this confidence extended beyond the classroom. In college, Shiksha began participating in presentations, discussions, and debates—spaces she once found intimidating. Her ability to communicate clearly and take initiative soon led to her being chosen as a Class Representative, reflecting not only stronger expression but also emerging leadership qualities.

Her relationship with Pehlay Akshar later came full circle. Shiksha joined the organisation as a Fellow, supporting classroom sessions and assisting with field-level initiatives. Working closely with students and teachers, she gained practical exposure to teamwork, communication, and responsibility while contributing to the same learning ecosystem that once nurtured her growth.

Alongside her fellowship, Shiksha is pursuing a B.Sc. in Computer Science at Maharshi Dayanand College, balancing academics and professional learning with focus and discipline.

From a hesitant student to a confident young leader, Shiksha Pandey’s journey reflects how consistent mentorship and a supportive learning environment can transform hesitation into courage and purpose.“Pehlay Akshar didn’t just help me learn English—it helped me believe that my voice mattered.”
