Your donation will help create safe learning spaces for all children and teachers in government schools.
Out of every rupee that is donated to Pehlay Akshar, 90 paise goes towards direct and in-direct program expenses like content development, teacher training, on-ground implementation, program team salary, etc. and 10 paise goes towards the operational expenses of Pehlay Akshar. This includes the cost of Finance, Communications, Strategy and HR, and other such functions, necessary to support the organization.

I really like Pehlay Akshar classes because Didi teaches me new words and helps me learn English in a fun way. We also play games and do activities which I enjoy a lot. After class, I like to share what I learned with my family.
Abdul from 8th grade, who resides in an orphanage, was initially very quiet and hesitant to participate in class activities. With consistent encouragement and the creation of a safe space, he gradually gained confidence, began reading in class, and even participated in a theatre mime performance. He said “I like to attend your sessions Didi and enjoy participating in it. You give me confidence to speak and don’t fear to talk in your session.” This progress highlights his growing self-expression and confidence.

I like English room classes very much. Here Didi help me learn new words. I am free to dance and do acting. She also show us short cartoon movies which help us to speak about it in english.
I really enjoy the way our teachers make learning interesting in the class. I like the energizers in the sessions, and as we speak in English, I learn many new words. We also get to read different and exciting stories every day, which makes the sessions even more enjoyable.
My name is Vaibhav Rathod. I study in 7th standard at Prabhadevi School. My favorite class is the Pehlay Akshar English class because Rutuja teacher teaches us many stories very nicely. She also gives us small rewards for every right answer that me or my classmates say. My favorite story is My Father’s Courage because it taught us how to take a stand against what is wrong. I also enjoy learning the “special words” that didi teaches us every day.

My name is Aliza. I am in Grade 3 A. I like coming to ER because we do many fun activities. My favorite was the mime activity. Didi made groups, and we acted without talking. It was very funny to watch my friends and also fun to act myself. I enjoyed it a lot and I want to do it again.
My name is Amrin Idrisi from Grade 7. During our nature walk, we saw many plants and flowers and learned about them. It was exciting, and I felt very happy to explore and discover new things in nature.
The English Room in our school is my favorite place. At Pehlay Akshar, we get to explore books, learn new words, and do fun activities. Thanks to Sanjana Didi, I can now talk in English without fear. I feel proud of myself!
